GREATER MANCHESTER CRICKET ** UPDATED **

by | Wednesday November 12th 2014 | Club, Cricket

This presentation (available for download below) is a culmination of a great deal of work by caring officials from across many leagues and the LCB who are trying to accommodate the wishes and aspirations of both players/clubs from across the Greater Manchester area.

We must listen, in particular to our players, and try and push forward plans to bring in a structured pyramid system fronted with an ‘Elite’ Premier division.

Prestwich CC are right behind the proposed changes although I do except that major change requires both professional and careful management. In my opinion all Leagues must respond to their players requirements. The majority want change from the current flat individual leagues to a more dynamic and exciting structure.

The current League system served us well but now we have an opportunity to move into a new era. I will keep you all posted over the next few months.

** UPDATE 25th November 2014 **
At a meeting attended by 8 of the 10 Greater Manchester Cricket Leagues held on 20th November 2014 at Emirates Old Trafford, it was unanimously agreed to form a steering group from amongst those leagues to develop further, the principles of a structured approach to league cricket across Greater Manchester. This process is fully supported by the Lancashire Cricket Board.
