AGM 2016 – CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

by | Sunday January 17th 2016 | Club

The Club continues to progress in line with the planned physical changes announced last year. I am particularly delighted to advise you that we are now planning for the next phase of planned changes within the existing footprint and possible extensions as well. We are discussing our options with external consultants and will advise the membership as soon as we have developed our options. Options include increasing the size of our member’s room, the main bar and a much needed storage area but at the same time maintaining a quality environment for both members and visitors to the club.

The financial progress, outlined in our accounts allows your management team the confidence to further develop our club to the next level. Our commercial success and the unpaid roles of our volunteers provide the club with opportunities that do not exist in many clubs. No club can progress based on income from membership fees alone. Can you help? Please consider it as it is very rewarding.

On the subject of volunteers I want to highlight the work done across all our Section’s in terms of youth development. We enjoy accreditation at Chartered Standard for Football and Clubmark for Cricket, Tennis and Bowling. This is a massive commitment on all our volunteers, involving regulatory training for the protection of children, as well as the coaching skills for the individual sports. Our future is in their hands.

Our main capital objective in 2016 is to replace the carpet based tennis courts and we are working very hard to obtain suitable help from the LTA. The current courts are over 17years old and have proved a brilliant investment.

Finally, can I wish you all a Happy and successful New Year.
