HARRY BLAKE TRIBUTE

A couple of weeks ago the club lost a great friend and an exceptional member.

Harry was an unbelievably caring son, a great husband, father and grandfather. He was an inspiration to us all and we will never forget him. He was a member for over 50 years and our memories will stay with us and I am sure will be shared around our bar for many a year to come.

To his core Harry was a red and he supported them both at home and when possible all over the country. He was what I would call a fair minded and generous to all football fan. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him at Wembley watching my team sadly lose in a League Cup Final but a great weekend was enjoyed by all. He loved football and the opportunity to spend quality time with friends. He enjoyed playing cricket as a young man and spent hundreds of hours watching Prestwich and latterly Alex at many different venues. Many of those clubs have kindly remembered Harry this week too.

Putting all that to one side, Harry was a proper ‘petrol head’ and anybody who had the pleasure of going through Harry’s record collection would have noticed and endured many Isle of Man TT EPs! If anybody needed advice on cars or bikes then Harry was always the first point of contact. After he lost his Dad he ran the family polyurethane rubber business for a while and then sold up. He then started a successful career in his true love which was selling cars and later on in the financing of car sales.

I know Harry would be very proud of his boys in the way they have handled the loss of such a wonderful Dad.

God bless H.

Brian.
