A MAGNALL-IFICIENT EVENING

There was only one “winner” at the cricket section’s recent annual presentation evening.

“Talent” spanning all the ages was celebrated with 57 team medals and 40 individual awards on show before a packed clubhouse of players, parents, coaches, and supporters.

The juniors set the tone for the evening with success at Under 9, Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels.

The seniors then kept the accolades coming: Cup runners-up for the 2nd team and Premier Division runners-up for the first team, evidencing a season of high quality performances and “near-misses”.

But it was the third team’s achievement as league winners which grabbed the headlines.

Captained by Mike Mangnall, with the able assistance of Karl West, most of the squad were made up of youngsters from the prodigious junior ranks.

Now more “grey hair” than “Gray Nicholls”, and after several seasons as third team skipper, Mike declared it was time to retire on a high.

Well played Mike!
