We are pleased to report that the CriKIT Charity set up by Tom Robinson, a member of our club, has successfully reached its goal.

Today, a shipment of donated equipment was picked up and starts its journey by sea to the Gary Kirsten Foundation in Cape Town where it will be used to help young players in the Townships develop life skills through cricket.

Over 40 bags, 40 bats, 90 pairs of pads, helmets, gloves and cricket clothing have been collected by Tom and over £2000 has been raised by him to cover all transport costs and fees etc.

Tom would like to thank all the people who helped the venture to become a success and who kindly donated both equipment and financial contributions.

Prestwich and other local clubs including Bury, Haslingden, Whalley Range, Ramsbottom, Edgworth and Werneth all collected and donated equipment as did others from as far away as Oxfordshire. Valuable support was also given by the GMCL who publicised the venture and by Tom’s school, the Manchester Grammar School, who also donated valuable equipment to this worthy cause.
