Aaryaman Roy put Bury 2nd XI in a spin by taking 6 for 29 to pave the way to victory for Prestwich 2nds.
The teenager was also at the crease (14 not out) as the winning runs were struck by Jack Doyle (33 not out) to overhaul the visitors’ total of 172. Opener Alex Taylor made a fine 76 to set up a solid foundation for the seven-wicket win.
Prestwich 3rd XI notched up an impressive 8-wicket win away at Westhoughton 3rd XI on Sunday. The home side were dismissed for 113 in 32 overs, with two wickets apiece for Anees Arif, Josh Ahern and Dylan Kane (the latter is not a misprint).
An unbeaten 51 from Luke Prescott, 31 from Will Lightfoot and 17 from Matthew Korab saw the side rattle past the target in less than 22 overs.
The 1st team crashed to a nine-wicket defeat at Clifton on Saturday. Ryan Barker took 7 for 58 as Prestwich capitulated to 121 all out. Clifton eased passed the total in 16 overs for the loss of one wicket, Sam Dorsey making 53, and Adam Holt 53 not out.
Perhaps the only noteworthy landmark was Andy Bradley’s one-ball 4 not out, due to the fact it was his 300th first XI innings, of which 133 have been red-inkers.
