The New Season is Here

by | Saturday March 19th 2016 | Bowling

Our first meeting of the season will be on Easter Sunday, the traditional Jack Bowl to open the season followed by a friendly family pairs’ competition, prizes of Easter Eggs!

To celebrate the start of the season we are having an informal social event in the members lounge with light refreshments on Friday, 1st April, from 7.30pm. This coincides with the monthly Club Quiz which starts at 8pm in the main lounge, which anyone can enter.

Due to a mild winter Stuart has already started work on the green and is hoping to get a group of helpers together to work on the green and it’s surrounds on Sunday 20th March at 10am. Please make an effort to help out.

We have a full diary of competitions which are open to all members. To entice you to enter the fee is only £1 but there are guaranteed good cash prizes for all of the competitions except Charity competitions.

There has been a slight increase in subscriptions of £1 for Adult and Veterans (over 60), this is keeping in line with the other sections.

As you may have noticed some leagues are struggling to survive due to shortage of teams and players so we are trying to do our bit by creating an interest in the sport especially among women. So on Saturday, 30 April we are holding an open day in conjunction with the IWIYW Team and asking all members to bring a non-bowling friend down, our Club coaches will be on hand to give people advice and refreshments will be available.

There are plans to bring out a new kit for all players which will be linked with the whole club, samples will be available shortly and may be purchased online. Details to follow.

Here’s to a good season, let’s hope the sun shines on us!
