HELEN BRADLEY – NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE

by | Sunday May 26th 2019 | Social

After months of rigorous training, club member Helen Bradley is taking on the 3 peaks challenge next weekend to raise money for The Fertility Foundation.

The National 3 peaks challenge involves climbing the three highest mountain peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon) all within a 24 hour period. The total walking distance is 23 miles with a total ascent of 10,052 feet.

Helen will begin the climb of Ben Nevis at 5.00pm on Saturday, aiming to complete the descent by 10.00pm (in the dark)! She will then drive to Scafell Pike in the Lake District and aim to start the climb at 4.00am (still in the dark)! The aim is to complete the descent by 8.00am and then drive to Snowdon in Wales and start climbing at 1.00pm descending by 5.00pm to complete the challenge in 24 hours.

Helen’s good friend Basia, who is doing the challenge alongside her, has The Fertility Foundation to thank for being able to become a mother to her son Frankie, and this fundraising effort is a thankyou for their fantastic work helping the 1 in 6 couples in the UK who experience fertility problems.

Basia is also climbing Kilimanjaro later this year fundraising for the same charity.
