TREBLE TONIC

The enforced week off due to Covid regulations proved no hindrance to all three Prestwich teams when they returned to action in rude health last weekend.

Jack Doyle cracked 64 – his inaugural half century and highest first team score – and Tom Gibson made 32 as the 1st XI reached a total of 143 for 8 in their 40 overs at Astley & Tyldesley.

The home side were then restricted to 114 for 9 as Tom Scott (3-17) and Nathan Bailey (3-37) grabbed the lion’s share of the wickets.

Bailey’s third wicket took his overall total to 150.

Littleborough Lakeside 1st XI set Prestwich 2nds a target of 140 after Lewis Jarvis (3-19) and Hassnain Ashfaq (3-40) inflicted much of the damage.

After Dylan Kane had compiled a fine 42, Ashfaq inflicted further damage, this time with the bat, seeing his side home with a quickfire 32 not out, off 17 balls, including 4 sixes.

The game also marked the senior debut of young Sam Regan, called in as a late replacement.

On Sunday, Prestwich 3rd XI exacted revenge on Unsworth 3rd XI following their close defeat last month.

Unsworth were dismissed for 83 – sparked by the early wicket taken by Karl West who has now reached and surpassed 300 senior wickets for the club.

Anees Arif then stepped in to take 4 for 13 and Josh Ahern 3 for 29.

The target was comfortably reached with seven wickets to spare as Uwais Khaliq hit an unbeaten 43.
