The curtain came down on this curtailed and totally unique season when the 3rd XI fell 38 runs short in their visit to Bolton Deane & Derby last Sunday.

With the 1st XI fixtures already completed, and the 2nd XI game cancelled due to Covid-19 safety measures, it was left to the 3rd team to carry the bat in the final weekend.

Deane & Derby made 152 for 7 from their 40 overs, with Uwais Khaliq leading the bowling honours, taking 3 for 16, supported by Karl West (2 for 17) and Muhammad Arif (2 for 44).

In reply, Matthew Korab and Dylan Kane (pictured) put Prestwich in a strong position at 74 for 1, but the loss of both Korab for 23 and Kane for 36 within the space of 2 runs, started a collapse, and despite 16 from West, they folded for 114.

Their opponents topped the division, with Prestwich finishing 3rd, so it has been, yet again, another highly promising set of performances from a squad packed with youngsters.
