Prestwich 1sts earned a place in the 2nd round of the ECB National Club Championship last Sunday winning 3-2 on a bowl-out against their GMCL rivals Roe Green.

Uwais Khaliq hit the stumps twice and Aaryaman Roy once, after rain forced the game to be abandoned, having hitherto amassed a formidable 239 for 6, off 39.4 overs.

Danny Pawson top scored with 76 off just 41 balls, hitting 6 fours and 6 sixes, and Sam Holden struck 51, off 44 balls, including 3 maximums. James Wharmby (33) and an unbroken seventh wicket partnership between Aaryaman Roy (20 not out) and Nathan Bailey (13 not out) contributed to a healthy total.

Prestwich face a trip to Wallasey in the next round on June 6.

With both 1st and 2nd team league games washed out last Saturday, the 4th team league game at Woodbank on Sunday also fell foul of the weather, with the game finely balanced.

The 4ths were dismissed for 117, with a half century from Gary Prescott (58) and 23 from Thomas Orrell.

Woodbank 3rds were 60 for 4 in reply when the rain arrived, but not before young Charlie Jackson had claimed his first senior wicket, returning figures of 1 for 9 off 5 overs, opening the bowling.

Rain forced the postponement of last night’s opening T20 clash with Bury Bullsharks, but efforts are being made to re-schedule the game.
