The mens A team clinch the Manchester Tennis League first division title after a 21 year wait.

With no league tennis played last year, new captain Christian Millington (seen here on the far left) went into the season with an open mind and looking forward to some competitive play against other clubs.

Chris commented, “I managed to recruit a couple of new players, having lost team regular, Ben Sinnott to injury for the season, and the whole squad really gelled. We had some great games where the team pulled together to see out some tough matches and get the results”.

In a tense title decider against Bamford, who had dominated the division for the past 20 years, Prestwich put on a superlative display, with all three pairs playing aggressive and controlled tennis. The pairings of Chris Millington and Adam Worsley and Robbie Fellows and Karl Kantor won two out of their three sets against determined opposition. Paul Jepson with his partner George Sykes then won all three of their matches winning the match 7-2 and denying Bamford a point, which was crucial in landing the title for Prestwich.

Chris was delighted with the way the season panned out complimenting the whole squad who all played their part to pul off a great achievement. After a team celebration and a few beers, Chris is planning regular team practices over the winter to make sure the title stays at Prestwich next year.
