Maddock creates havoc

Ryan Maddock spearheaded victory at Heyside with a five-wicket haul before pro Shivam Chauhan blasted an unbeaten 67 to keep Prestwich in top spot.

The home side were bowled out for 141 in less than 35 overs, as Maddock (pictured above) took 5 for 36 and Nathan Bailey 2 for 50, while Andy Bradley, Alex Taylor and Sam Holden all grabbed a wicket each.

Alcindo Holder struck a fluent 59 for the home side before he became one of Maddock’s victims. This was his second five-wicket haul – the first being at home… against Heyside!

At 48 for 3, Prestwich still had work to do, but Chauhan’s classy innings in just 38 balls, and Holden’s unbeaten 30 ensured there were no further frights.

Shivam Chauhan’s 67 not out helped Prestwich secure a 7 wicket win at Heyside.

The 2nd team continued their excellent run with a wide-margin defeat of Heaton 2nds.

A fourth-wicket stand of 137 between Jack Doyle and David Taylor was the foundation of their total of 244 for 6.

Doyle made an excellent 91, following on from his recent century, and Taylor struck a run-a-ball 65, before Matthew Cuthbert (23 not out) and Dylan Kane (20 not out) added some quick late runs.

Adam Cheshire ripped through the visitors – taking 6 for 30 – supported by Uwais Khalis (2 for 8) and Wilf Reeve (2 for 25) to dismiss them for 96, and elevate the 2nds into 2nd place in their division.

There were just a handful of overs bowled on Sunday as rain swept in and the games involving the 3rds, 4ths and 5ths were all abandoned.
