Prestwich 4XI secured a second senior trophy of the season for the club as they overcame Edgworth to win the GMCL Tetley’s Sunday Plate.

In the Bank Holiday Monday clash played at Hadfield St Andrews, stand-in Skipper Damon Montgomery won the toss and his decision to bowl paid off in just the second over as Khaliq clean bowled Foster with only three runs on the board.

Edgworth recovered from that early set back until a mix up between the batsmen saw Eddleston run out for 17. And when Andrew Beet entered the Prestwich attack, two quickfire wickets left the Bolton side struggling slightly at 52-4.

A 39 run stand got Edgworth back on track until Beet picked up the wickets of Davies and Jenkinson in just three balls. Ben Pinkus then got in on the act with two quick wickets of his own before shortly after finishing off the tail leaving Prestwich with a target of 116.

In reply there was no hanging around from openers Montgomery and Sam Regan as they set about their chase getting to 53 without loss from the first ten overs.

Damon Montgomery scored an unbeaten 68 as Prestwich 4XI took the honours in the GMCL Tetley’s Sunday Plate final.

Montgomery reached his 50 from 50 balls during an 83 run stand with Regan before Ellis Compton enjoyed a late cameo as they guided their side to a 9 wicket win inside 23 overs.
