Reports

PFC Under 10 Meerkats 3-0 Daisy Hill
This was another great game of junior football played in tremendous spirit.

The Meerkats were promoted this season and every match is of a much higher quality and they have risen to the challenge brilliantly.

The passing and defending of both teams was superb with Finn opening the scoring in the first half with an unstoppable shot to put the Meerkats in front at half time.

In the second half it was end to end stuff and Liam made yet another surge forward and saw his first shot blocked but he smashed the rebound into the net and you could hear the cheer from his Mum for miles around!

Finn scored again to make it 3-0 to the Meerkats but both teams deserve  praise for the football played today.

Great support again from both sets of fans.

Radcliffe Juniors Tigers v PFC Under 7 Pumas
The Puma’s recent unbeaten run continued to a fifth game with this win over Radcliffe Juniors Tigers on Red Bank field.

Despite an early setback in this match when Radcliffe took the lead, Prestwich soon turned the game around with strikes from Ash, Leo (2) and Sam H.

But the home side bravely battled back and as quickly as the Pumas had stormed ahead, Radcliffe were back on level terms with three unanswered strikes.

Sam H’s trusty left foot fired the visitors back in front again before Radcliffe levelled once again on the stroke of half time.

After the restart, Prestwich went for the jugular in an amazing ten minute spell which ultimately settled the outcome of the match.

Leo ran riot in the final third and scored five straight goals as a shell-shocked home defence wondered what had hit them.

Indeed it could have been more as their ‘keeper pulled off a few decent saves as Ash, AJ, Sam H and Umair all tried to extend the Puma’s lead.

At the other Charlie made a good save to keep Radcliffe out while Adam, Shaun and Sam C defended superbly breaking up home attacks.

AJ took over between the sticks for the latter stages and also did well despite Radcliffe getting a consolation goal with five minutes remaining.

Ramsbottom Utd Jedi v PFC Under 7 Tigers
Sadly the force was strong with Rammy United Jedis who ran the Tigers through with their lightsabers in a rather one sided affair.

It was a game of 2 halves with the Manager choosing to leave the majority of substitutions until half time. Despite the eventual score line this proved beneficial, particularly in the first half as the Tigers became more organised and resilient as time went by.

A few goals were conceded in the first few minutes but then Sam, Rowan and Kieron all rolled their sleeves up to limit the damage whilst Bodhi’s tireless running gave them some relief as he carried the ball into the opposition’s territory.

As the half progressed they all ventured further forward, and Rowan shot just wide with the best chance of the first 20 minutes.

In the second half there was more attacking intent from the Tigers but the Jedis hit back on the break and as a result more goals were conceded.

Tom in particular made some excellent covering tackles and a goal-line clearance but the steady flow of Jedi goals couldn’t be stopped. As the second period progressed there was more possession in the Jedi’s half and pressing into the opposition penalty area but no goals forthcoming.

Elliot never gives up and his persistence paid off as he won a late penalty which he converted with a perfectly placed shot in off the right post.

A tough game against quick, skilful and organised opposition and Tiger’s Man of the Match was awarded to Sam for his resolute defending in the first half.
