Prestwich 3rd team finished the season on a high with a hard-fought 23-run victory over Thornham 2nds.

It was another creditable performance from the side bearing several youngsters brimming with talent.

They all played their part, but a Crichq glitch forbids the writer from being able to detail any exact figures.

However, it was notable that one of the more senior players, Richard Hatchett, helped boost the Prestwich total to 155 for 7 with a six off the last ball of the innings. He then grabbed the final wicket of the game to dismiss the visitors for 132.

Prestwich 2nd XI suffered defeat last Saturday at the hands of Droylsden 1sts by 34 runs, having restricted them to 156 all out. Skipper Pete Lorenzini returned excellent figures of 4 for 17, well supported by Oli Holt (3 for 25 off 14 overs) and Wilf Reeve (2 for 37 off 14 overs).

However, the target proved too much, with Adam Taylor hitting a top score of 36, but Prestwich tumbling for 122.

The 2nds play their final league game of the season this Saturday at home to Glossop 2nds, starting at midday, followed in the evening, by an end-of-season family disco.
