A PRE-SEASON MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

To me this man epitomised all that was good in Umpires, in fact, I personally rated him the best ever! Sadly,he passed on late last year. The message is simple to all my players, let’s as a mark of respect, appreciation and memory to him, treat all Umpires the same as we treated Tony Needham. All players will get decisions that are good and bad across the season, the key word is respect. Without these guys there is no game. Tony’s favourite saying around the bar was “Have a look in the book, I am sure it says you were out” The GMCL is trying very hard to eradicate bad behaviour and has my 100% support and that of all our officials.
