Week 4 Away to the Eagle & Child C won 16.5 – 1 (9 – 1 winners) 203 -125 Agg

B team Had no game

An excellent team performance, away to what can only be described as a hostile, vocal environment where etiquette is a swear word!!! and player’s parentages are questioned.

Following heavy rain all afternoon left the green sponge like in places and difficult to judge the pace in others, but the team adapted and played as follows:Marathon Man Morley came from 0 -6 down to level at 7 -7 across then remembered he used to like to play the green pulled away to 12 -8 before settling on a longer length and put together a 9 break to win 21 – 8 and picked up 8 “2”s (highest of the night) along the way Finally winning his first game of the season on a weds.Gareth “sprinter ” martin did his usual raced to impressive 17 – 6 lead in only 18 ends with some fine close bowls, but then exchanged points and won 21 – 10Luckett played a steady game against a player who seem to have been around forever, struggled in the early exchanges needing to come from 3 – 8 down to level 8 – 8 across, pulled away to 15 – 11 before leveling again at 17 across, then found a nice length and run out 21 – 17.red bowls himself Colin palmer maintained his 100% 4 wins from 4 record, but was forced to dig deep, in another see saw tussle 7 – 2 up, 8 across, 8 -12 down, followed by exchanges with neither player able to hold onto the block making the score 17 -17 all, again Colin found a mark and length and run out 21 -17 Dave must consider himself unlucky to be drawn against the unbeaten Ken Mitchell, probably the eagle most consist ant and best player for a few seasons.

Dave struggled with the conditions and the experience of Ken never really allowed Dave to get into the game and there was never more than a couple of points in it but at 14 -14 all ken found length, line and had a little luck to run out 14 -21

First half 6 -1 (4 -1 winners)skipper stu making a guest appearance in the second half had a fabulous run after being 6-5 put a break of 11 points (highest of the night) to lead 17 -5 before his opponent had his own mini break of 5 stu eventually won 21 – 14Chrissie Ireland Came back – yippee and he is here to stay – showed his class, quickly established a commanding 11 -1 lead and won 21 -5 taking the kitty home with him in the processMarkey Mark prosser again got off to a slow start coming from 2 -7 down to level at 7 across, this was followed by mini 5 break to put 12 -9 up but his opponent put together his own mini break to level the scores at 15 -15. Mark kept his nerve and won 21 -17 One man crowd next – Jon Armstrong had early exchanges with the score level at 4 – 4 before his opponent turned to Jon and said ” I love corners its all I DO AND I AM S##T HOT!!!” Jon nodded and smiled and proceeded to put a 7 break together playing over the middle of the crown to lead 11 -4, then followed further exchanges of points before Jon got back on the earlier mark and put scoring break of 9 points to win 21 -6 and maintain his 100% record

Last but no means least was the “B” team skipper Johnny D Davies, though saying he was nervous before hand due to the vocals from the side lines showed no sign and established a 10 – 3 lead which would prove to be his saving grace, his opponent pulled back to trail 12 -10, John blanked out the crowd and put a little run together to lead 18 -12, overture I hear you cry, and you would be right for the finish was worthy of an orchestra. john played some top draw leads of no more than a foot from the block, but his opponent started beating them with ease and by doing so pulled back to 18 – 18. All credit to John he stuck to the task and kept on with the pressure and finally won 21 -19

Second half 7.5 – 0 (5 winners) well played one and all

– no league game next week but the B Team are in the first round of the cup @ broughton green against 1st div Tonge – but the B Team do Have a 52 point handicap in their favour so good luck boys .
