SIGNED ENGLAND BAT AUCTION

Thursday June 18th 2009 | Cricket

Your chance to bid on a signed England bat from the 2008 New Zealand series in aid of the Acute Brain Injury Trust at Poole Hospital.

Last season, Phil Williams was unfortunately hit on the top of his head, by a cricket ball, whilst playing for my (Andy Jones) old club Wayfarers.

His injuries were severe enough to paralyse him down one side of his body and it was uncertain that he would ever walk again. He is a fighter and is now able to walk again although he is on a long road to full recovery.

Last year, a charity match between a Wayfarers XI and the Wroughton Wranglers and an auction raised over £1,400 for the The Acute Brain Injury Trust who helped Phil and his family through a very traumatic time.  Phil is keen to repay their help by raising funds for the charity and campaigning for the compulsory wearing of helmets whilst playing cricket at all levels.

Phil has this year received from the ECB a 2008 New Zealand Series Cricket bat, signed by the England team. The donation of the bat is on condition that it is used to raise funds for charity.

As a result Phil has decided to auction the bat using a sealed bid process. Obviously, he would like to raise as large a sum as possible for charity.

If you like to put in a bid for this item, please see below for more details. Thanks – Andy Jones.
