DARTS AND DOMS ROUND UP 04/11/2009

Wednesday November 4th 2009 | Social

Following the break in the league program for the domino cup last week, normal service resumed and we were keen to maintain our 100% start , and we did not disappoint with some records made and standards set for the rest of league, also throw in a little controversial for good measure makes for an interesting night!!

Darts

“Chomper” John Davies had the honour of opening proceedings and was below par, br his high standards and won 2 – 0 with 2 “100’s” in the second leg.

Andy “bradders” Bradley was not put off by poor scoring from the marker and the failure of the electronic scoreboard, which saw the first leg being abandoned and restarted which Andy won. The second leg was a little more interesting, again the scores went wrong, but both players agreed to carry on, Andy was annoyed by this and threw some loose darts but still held on to win despite the fact the he actually scored 651 against his opponents 501!!!! Andy won 2 – 0 with a “100” in the second leg.

Gareth “I need a nick name ( suggestions on a post card please) Martin asked to go next and did not let us down threw a steady uneventful game with a ton in the second leg and won 2 – 0

Skipper Jon Army up next and desperate to atone for his poor showing in the previous round, which the bowlers among the team will confirm, just like at bowls, this is when he is at his most dangerous. Threw a very impressive first leg with 2 “100’s” & 1 “140” with a 60 check out to win in only 20 darts. The second leg was more frustrating though jon threw another 100 eventually
won 2 – 0

With the match points now secured and no legs being dropped the pressure was now on the final three to deliver to continue the results.

Young Nick ” pick me up at the met ” carter, who shall now be known as “metric” was less nervous than his previous game and is improving with his consistency metric took the first, but lost the next despite throwing a “140” but won the third leg which included another “140” and won 2 – 1

Martyn Ackroyd up next and for the second match running got the best player from the opposition, a guy who had won his 3 previous games 2 – 0. Martyn was out scored in both legs but his opponent had double trouble and could not finish allowing matyn to step in and nick both legs to win 2 – 0

last but by no means least was the “hammer” haslam making a guest appearance for the darts side and though only scored low, when it came to the business end i.e the double they were no nerves, no hesitation and he polished them off with the first dart in each leg, he even had a very respectable cheeky 68 checkout using 2 doubles in double top and double 14 – won 7 – 0

Darts result 7 – 0 with 14 – 1 legs

Doms
Not to be out done by the darts standards were equally has high with a record result in one game

Big Ted & The hammer Haslam again had the honour of opening and maintained their 100% record with a very tight nervous win 91 – 86 to make it 2 from 2

the ladies up next with gorgeous Gail & irresistible Irene doing their damnest, but did not have the luck of the draw and lost 76 – 91

“jolly” janet Austin is the only player including the cup to remain unbeaten at dominoes and again partnering Braders played like seasoned campaigners and won comfortably 91 – 64
IT 2 from 2

the next match was simply awesome, amazing, the likes of which I have not seen before saw Big Ted and gorgeous Gail pairing up again and were keen to keep their winning start played like a pair of professionals (if you have professional domino players?) and though Gail did say she wanted to leave early due to not feeling well , must have left her opponents feeling sick or thought she was taking the mick for they won in record quick time and scored 91 – 33 – which surely must throw down the gauntlet to the league and leave them in a strong position for the best domino win trophy at the end of the season. Making it 2 from 2

Last Game saw the skipper filling in along with Gareth who was playing his first ever game struggled with draw and the attention of the crowd, went down 76 – 91

result 3 – 2 won

Next week we are at home to Church Inn from bury please come and lend your support match starts at 8.30 (ish)
