WEEK 5 DARTS & DOMS ROUND UP

Tuesday December 1st 2009 | Social

We were away again!!! to the Old Tower, who are hot on our heels and shared top spot in the darts, but their doms team were looking up from the foot without a win to their name.
Another night of intrigue with the odd twist and emotional outburst, which saw the tower being toppled by the Prestwich throwers, but their domioes players dodged defeat and snatched victory in controversial style !!!!

Darts
gamesshowboat Stu started off slow against their best player SAM, taking the first leg with 1 “100” and checked out with 16 & double top finish of 56. The second leg saw 2 “100’s” but Stu miss read the score and thought he needed double 4, having thrown and missed his first two darts, I asked why he was n’t going for double 12? oops came his reply and proceeded to hit dead centre of double 12 with his next dart – hence the name showboat Stu won 2 – 0

Chomper davies had a steady game and was never under any pressure, he had “140” in the second leg to win 2 – 0 making it 5 from 5 and not dropped a leg

andy Brad”D“ers “theres two “d” in bradders!!!! Bradley was up for a fight and looking to pick on someone, he took the first leg with ease in only 19 darts which included 2 “100’s”
the second leg saw a further 2 “100’s” but sadly he could not finish, whilst he had no problem hitting the double it was the wrong one every time, thus allowing his opponent back in to nick the leg.
the final leg again saw Andy taking control with another “100” making 5 for the match and “140” and at one point he was some 250 points in frustrated! Again could not finish and was stuck on double 3, getting more frustrated all the time, again his opponent slowly pulled it back and the game went to the mad house ie double 1 for both players, but Andy lost his patience and lost 1 -2

Captain nemo (jon army ) up next had his usual steady games with a “100” in the first leg and a disappointing “140” in the second, ie the first two darts sitting nicely to the right of the treble 20 tucked in the corner only to see his last dart go just below double top, some 2 inch away!!!! His finishing was within 3 darts both legs, despite being heckled by the female scorer p “nice bust”, “fat arse” and “legs” won 2 – 0

Metric (nick carter) just gets better, not only did he win 2 – 0 he had “100” , “140” & the clubs first “onnnnneeeeeee hunnnndddreeeeddddd and eighttteeeeeee – 180” and now is in the 180 club which has its own comp at the end of the season.

Emergency call up Gareth martin in place of the no show Martyn, was keen to win and regain his place in the team, did not disappoint, though the match went to 3 legs with gareth losing the first, he had a “100” in each one and the second leg saw gareth checkout in 20 darts his lowest eve, which inspired to take the third and final leg to win 2 -1

marathon Man O ,connor last but no means least won the first leg with a double 20 – yes thats right your eyes did not deceive , he hit double 20 and not 1!!!!! sadly that was to be his crowning glory for he went on to lose his next two legs, probably because he was still replaying the double 20. Lost 1 – 2

Result Won 5 – 2 (12 – 5 in legs)

Doms

Big Ted & the Hammer
got back to winning ways with very respectable 91 – 56 win

Gail & Irene up next and struggled with the “drop” and lost 78 – 91

Next was , controversy, outrage, argumentation, resentment there is not enough adjectives to list the shear stupidity of a certain man who shall remained nameless, well lets just say theres “2 D’s in Bradders”!!. For those who don’t understand dominoes I shall briefly attempt to explains the basics of dominios,
4 players have 7 dominoes each and they play in turn, matching the number at either end with one from their 7, and if the total of the two ends adds up to a multiple of 3 or 5 then a point is scored for each multiple ie if the total of the two ends adds up to 10 then 2 x 5 = 2 points. and you keep track of the score by leapfrogging a peg in the scoreboard, moving forwards. Simple enough I hear you say, But not to “2 D’s” bradders he decides to score backwards and sideways and so confusing everyone even the mange dog in the corner!!!, this provoked an heated exchange of words and poor Janet his partner sat opposite not amused at all. with no agreement on the correct position of the peg saw The captain (jon Army – me) conceding the game for the scores stood at 49 -79 in favour of the Tower for we probably would have lost anyway . Janet and Bradders lost 49 -91

Captain Nemo & showboat Stu stepped in next to try and retrieve the match and what followed was an excellent tight enjoyable match that went to the wire hinging on one domino lost 88 – 91

it the match now lost it was time to experiment with a new pairing in the experience Hammer playing with the novice Gareth (who er Mrs) who only had one previous game put in an impressive performance to win 91 – 84 so I will probably play them together next time

Result Lost 2 -3

Again no game next week due to the opposition withdrawing from the league, feel free to join us for practice at both darts and doms.
Next game is Home to St Marys Social Club on Mon 14th Dec

Also the club Knockouts at Darts, Doms, Crib are taking place on Weds eve .
