DARTS & DOMS WEEK 7 ROUND UP

Wednesday January 13th 2010 | Social

At home against 3rd placed Lord Raglan from Radcliffe, a close encounter was expected, again with domioe players missing the darts boys were called upon to fill the gaps.

Darts
Showboat Stu cameron was in a rush tonight, played against the hapless F shaw showed no mercy and won 2 – 0 with 2 “tons” and 140 and also a 80 checkout an very impressive 16 darts in the second leg.

Skipper Nemo stepped aside to allow for the return of Martyn Ackroyd, who promised much prior the game in warm up, but could not do it when it mattered. Against A Allen, he won the first leg but lost the next two to record 1 – 2 defeat, though he did score 5 “tons” in the match Martyn was unable to finish, perhaps showing inexperience going for the wrong options with the doubles.

Chomper fat finger John davies had the match of the night against L Garside with both players exchanging “tons” for fun with 3 each John won 2 – 0 to maintain 7 from 7 and still only dropped one leg all season.

Marathan Jon O’connor volunteered and stepped up to take on the raglan best player in the opposing skipper Reece De pledge and put up a good show, taking the first leg (yes he did it with a double 1 finish!) which included a ton but sadly lost the next 2 and lost 1 – 2 to make the match level at 2 -2

Gareth No Name Martin fresh from his defeat at doms played against the difficult S Shepherd whom was sporting a vest! in snowy weather – how intimidating is that? – the game went to 3 legs and gareth held on to win 2 – 1 recording 2 “tons” along the way.

Andy 2 “D” bradders keen to atone for his defeat last time, had clearly been putting in the hours on the practice board and was comfortable 2 – 0 winner over M Mckevitt and with it claiming the match points making the score 4 -2 .

Last but no means least young Metric (nick carter) was never really pushed by c hopkins and won 2 – 0 without scoring a “ton” for the first time this season and kept the pressure on John D with his own 7 from 7 wins.

score 5 – 2 (12 – 5 legs).

Doms
With a couple of players missing and we still have an outside chance of the league skipper Nemo decided to swap some pairing to freshen up the games and was not disappointed

New pairing in the hammer (john haslam) and 2 “d” bradders had an empathetic 91 – 41 win.

Second new pairing off the experienced Gail Friend and Gareth never really got going and lost 70 – 91

Wendy & Janet having won the previous match were kept together and did not disappoint and won comfortably 91 – 57

Another pairing kept together following a win, in Captain Nemo (jon Army – me) and Showboat Stu were coasting at one point only to see the opponents pull back 20 points in one round leaving a scramble for the finish line and held on to win 91 – 88

final new pairing of the hammer and wendy put a brave fight but ran out of steam and lost 82 – 91

Result 3 – 2 won

We have our last away game to the Church Inn @ Bury (next to Bury Asda) next week where we are looking for revenge following our one only defeat against these at home. meet at the club for 8pm leaving @ 8.15.
Cricket boys please come

cheers
