WEEK 2 MEN WEDS BOWLS A -TEAM HOME TO EAGLE A

Following our successful defence in the first round of the cup last week we were keen to maintain our momentous in the league, but did we ?

First on was deep pockets chrissie Ireland playing against the evergreen jimmy coleman and nothing could split them with the scores stood at 8 across, chris dug deep in those pockets to pull out a 6 break, jimmy stopped the rot with a couple of singles. chris replied with kind another 6 break to win 21 – 10

showboat skpipper Stu cameron playing against the difficult Tony Norman, nothhing could split them early on and the scores stood at 9 – 9. Tony proceed to bowl some excellent close bowls which stu could not find any reply, and it was one way traffic in the wrong direction stu lost – 12 -21

Llleeeewwyyynnnn (lou) borrowing dave palmers shorts in minus temp – silly welsh man!, playing against Gary Boardman was another involved in a close game in the early stages and again the score was level at 10 – 10. Lou found some inspiration, had a little luck and put in a 3 double break of 6, Gary not to be outdone replied with kind with 6 of his own again to level at 16 -16. again the pendulous swung to lou who put in another 5 break to win 21 -16

Gareth “i am not from wrexham”! Martinwas involved in real see saw match with the lead swapping hands 7 times in the match, started off well to lead 6 – 2 against arguably the Eagles most consistent player over the years in Graeme Buttorworth, Graeme dug in to lead 8 – 7, again gareth regained control with a 4 single break to lead 11 – 8. Not to be out done graeme dug deep with 8 in 7 ends to reverse the score 13 – 16 , again gareth responded with 6 of his own to lead 19 -18. again the lead swapped hand sin the next two ends and the score wqas 20 -19 to Gareth was to be undone, he had the perfect bowl no more 2 inch away and lying game graeme played a superperb bowl to take the end. This was two much for gatth for he visibly decomposed and the fight was gone he
lost 20 -21 though to be fair he was distracted by the throwing of the mat by another player!!!

Stteviee globe trotter blaymire was another to start slowly and with the scores stood at 11 -11 put in an impressive break of 10 to win 21 -11

First Half 3 winners to 2 agg 95 -79

Next on was the crowd aka yorkie – who was awful!! and was not helped by the lack of support around the green lost 11 -21 against cliff wood

battle royal with the two daves next – dave palmer v dave freeman again the early stages the score stood at 10 across after 15 ends. the second half was no different and after 31 ends dave freeman just edged it dave p lost 20 -21

Colin red balls palmer was shocking and worse than the yorkie went down with a whimper and lost 8 – 21 to the mmuch improved Ian Burrows

chad ” i’ve got over an hurdle” Sproston played very well with fine close bowling of poetic precision and waqs to be applauded for his consistantcy, cleary the practice is paying off, won comfortably 21 -11 with 7 twos along the way

last but no means was geoff hilton another to have aslow start and the scores stood at 10 -10 after 16 ends showed his class and played some great woods won 21 -16 against Graeme Martin
