A different reporter for this week. Darts duties for yorkie prevented him collecting the cards.

S Cameron 21 D Bevan 17 – a close game throughout with some good bowls, right from the off to 17 across when Stuart used his home advantage to pull out two captain’s ends.

J Armstrong 16 D Warrington 21 – Young Danny was an unknown quantity to us but proved himself a worthy opponent for “the crowd” as he forged ahead 7-1 then extended the lead to 21-4 and 16-6. Four twos from yorkie followed to reel Danny in to 14-16 but a four break from Danny took him to all but with only two further chalks from Jon.

G Martin 21 J Deacon 7 – Jim filled in at late notice after Roy Budgen’s injury – all the best Budge – and came up short against the expectant father. 7 twos to 1 was the tale of the tape and an 8 break from 11-4 killed the game off as a contest.

D Palmer 8 B Holden 21 – Both players played well from what I saw, with Bruce playing a bit better and having the odd rub to help him along the way.

S Blaymire 7 D Howells 21 – Steve looked to be bowling well and in command at 5-1 up, but the old master stepped up a gear to produce some great woods. Steve would have won most ends the way he was playing but Dave was worthy of his win tonight

3-2 and 14 chalks down at halfway; on came the second half, accompanied by light rain.

C Palmer 21 A Seel 20 – a cracking game from what I saw but a few loose ends too, easily done under the conditions. Colin gradually opened up a gap, with 16-8 being the biggest, before Alan got back in it and levelled at all but across, with Colin winning the final end with his first bowl. 3-3, 13 down

G Hilton 21 D Rosenfield 14 – a familiar face with a new team faced a foe unfamiliar to him. Unconcerned, Rosey pushed on and was good value for his early lead before a string of 6 twos in 11 ends saw Geoff into a 17-10 lead, which was followed by a bit of tit-for-tat bowling, both players accruing a further four chalks. Rosey put in a request after that he doesn’t get drawn against the Panel bowler next time. Bless. We consoled him with the fact that he didn’t get beat to one this time. He seemed ever so grateful. 4-3 up, 6 down on aggregate

I Luckett 16 I Meadowcroft 21 – “Ian will win” was the confident prediction from Dosser as he strode on to the green. He backed that up with a 6-0 lead, only to be caught at 11 across and yield a 6 break to end up 18-12 down; a slight fightback saw him go down to a battling 16. 4-4, 11 down on the aggregate

C Sproston 21 K Newbury 13 – “the best I’ve bowled for a long time” said Chad afterwards. From the ends I did walk past, it looked like Kevin was giving as good as he got too. Kevin went into a 5-1 lead before Chad hit back with a 12 break and from 13-5, they shared the next sixteen chalks, taking Chad over the line in comfort. 5-4 up, 3 down on aggregate

M Prosser 21 G Sandiford 7 – Had the better of the early stages to go 6-3 up, then won 8 out of the next 9 ends with singles to find myself 14-4 up. Gary got in, followed with a good brace then gifted me a two straight back from which I ran out. No poetic nonsense, just decent bowling. 6-4 up, 11 up on agg
