DARTS & DOMS WEEK 7 AWAY TO WILTON ARMS

Sunday November 21st 2010 | Social

After a string of victories which saw us surging up the table to 3rd, could we keep our nerve and the run going? Could we push on up the table and make ground on the leaders who had a free week?

well read on

Darts
Showboat stu lived upto his name and opened up, against the opposition best player, started in empathetic style with a 100 followed by 140 then lost his way a little but recovered and had the audacity to checkout with 126 (T19,S19 and bull). The next leg was a much closer affair with stu picking up another ton and managed to hold on to win 2 – 0

fat fingers davies showed some spirit after losing the first leg, dug deep with 2 x 100’s to take the next and force a 3rd and deciding leg, again this was close, but fat fingers pulled another ton out of the hat and edged in front to win 2 -1

Bradders up next and could not get going, perhaps it was the awful beer or the cold wet night, but he stuck to the task and chipped away, and ended up in the mad house (needing double 1) for the first leg, after several visits finally picked it off. The second leg was much better, which saw bradders picking up a couple of ton’s to take the leg with ease and so winning 2 – 0

with the score standing at 3 – 0, and the game looked safe capt nemo decided to change the batting order, boy what a mistake that was, in fact he should now be known as capt calamity.

Since College boy nick was not allowed to play due to domestic dis agreements with his mum!!!!! Jon O’connor was to move up to number 4 – he never got in the groove and was poor by his average standards lost 0 – 2

With Capt nemo (sorry calamity) watching the practice throws from the other team, decided against playing himself and going for the jugular played debutante Tom Gibson against what looked like one of the weaker players and so giving him a chance. He was proved right with Tom being the better of the two and in front for most of the game, but probably due to the pressure, expectations and experience could not find the doubles and so lost 0 – 2

5 down and the score 3 -2 were the wheels about to come off?

calamity again having watched the practice threw himself into the mix in the first leg he was back to the big scores a ton followed by 140 but was unable to finish so allowing his opponent back in and the lost the leg. The next leg showed calamity consisting by hitting 5 consecutive 60 scores, again to surge a head, again only to find he had double trouble. In fact he was that bad on the doubles that when he got home and reached for the whiskey bottle to drown his memories of the match, what did he find? – yep you’ve guessed it barely enough for a single!!! lost 0 -2

so now 3 -3 all and it was all down to hastings ( chris Williams) – i did not see his match i was playing doms and sulking round the corner like someone suggested, but believe he threw a steady game and was unlucky , also could not hit the doubles and lost 0 -2

final score 3 – 4 lost – at least when the wheels come off they come off proper!

Doms
with big Ted and even bigger BOB again at the helm and looking to build on last week went down like a couple lead balloons lost 66 – 91
showboat and hastings up next – faired slightly better lost 73 – 91
Trevor & bradders could not stop the trend but at least the got closer to finish line lost 81 – 91
nemo and the hammer up next were unlucky and went down with a whimper 72 – 91
hammer and trevor looking to stop the whitewash, duly obliged and won 91 – 80

score 1 – 4 lost

This week 23/11/10 we are at home to the staff of life – which should be a close encounter for we are both evenly matched and sit together in the top half of the table
