DARTS & DOMS WEEK 9 AWAY AT THE BAY

Wednesday December 1st 2010 | Social

Away at my old hunting ground and big things were expected from Capt calamity, so having arrived early and settled down to a curry and pint, it was the most relaxed I had been for a couple weeks but why? was it the atmosphere? was it gorgeous landlady (gill) ( sorry paul if your reading your just a little too tall) or was it the curry? With pride and a wager at stake what happened well read on ……….

Darts

Showboat stu up first up against a very inexperience Mark from the Bay, stu struggled and was no where near form, though he eventually took the first leg it took forever! the second leg was better, stu chipped in with a ton then chipped out with a 72 finish to win 2 – 0. Perhaps this was a stroke of genius by the Bay Capt Claire in playing their weakest against our strongest?

Fat Fingers John davies up against a Newbie from the New Bay in P Brown, and I have to say I felt sorry for the Opposition he looks a good steady chucker and did nothing wrong, but fat fingers was imperious scoring 5 tons to win 2 – 0 .

College boy Nick Carter up next and finally we have a nick name for him, Gill the bay’s landlady, asked about his age, “old enough i replied” she said he looks like a baby face assain the way he was throwing!!! . so we can call him “baby face” or ” the assain” or perhaps just nick ! you the readers can decicde suggestions on a post card please.
playing one of Bay’s original cast and difficult to beat Stu woody wood, was involved a tight encounter but baby face had the edge on the doubles and won 2 – 0

with 3 games gone and were leading 3 – 0 surely we could not do another wilton and throw it away?

Big Bird Bradders up next and played another newbie from the Bay in I Griffith who turned out to be a very good player and (I would not be surprised if he does not lose many this season), was outstanding, I griffith was unlucky and missed out on 152 checkout. Big bird was simply blown away, though he did not play too badly, chipping a ton, thought i had set him up. bradders lost 0 – 2

Des o connor up next against another of the Bays original cast in Gary Turrell whom is always difficult to beat. An even game with nothing to choose between them, but gary playing through the pain having a knacked shoulder held his nerve. des lost 0 – 2

the scoreline now 2 -3 oh dear especially when we had Capt calamity to play

Capt calmed stepped up , was back almost to his best scoring 5 x 81 scores in the first leg and took out DTop with his first dart to take the first leg. He carried on with the scores and when needing 139
Hit single 1 with his first dart, he re-composed himself and hit 2 x treble 20 to leave double 9 and scoring his only ton of the match. Calamity needing 4 more darts at the double to win 2 – 0 and with it the match and the bonus points. So goobye Capt calamity and hello Capt Marvel . ( i know this is self gratification but hey ho i write the report)

last was hastings up against the bays delightful Capt Claire, who though may be small in stature has a big heart and bags of experience and she kept her cool going for the doubles won with ease. hastings lost 0 -2

Final score 4 -3 + 2 bonus points

Doms

big Ted and slimline tonic Bob in their familiar position are proving to be very poor travellers and preferring all the comforts of home for I dont think they have won away this season and tonight was to be no exception, went down like a pair n over weight school boys having just run a mile in cross country lost embarrassingly 62 – 91

the camerons up next and if I was wendy i would seriously consider a divorce!, for stu has kept his 100% record of defeats and lost again 74 – 91

with score now 0 -2 down who better than the newly named capt marvel to stand up and be counted.

In a pre – arranged draw with landlord & landlady Paul & gill and with drinks at stake capt marvel was paired with the beginner hastings (chris williiams) who was desperate for a good show.
marvel and hastings set off like a runaway train and quickly found themselves a street in front (thats 30 points for those who dont understand), hastings showed his naivety and inexperience and gifted them a 8 pointer, giving paul & gill what proved to be false hope, for in the very next hand Paul from the Bay picked up 6 out of a possible 7 doubles which is probably a 1 in a million chance.
Marvel saw his opportunity and turned the screw somemore, neither Gill Nor Paul could respond, and Chris joined in and chipped in some useful points meant the game was soon over with a win for Prestwich, and the bragging rights for capt Marvel (plus a free drink) 91 – 62 – never mind paul at least you witnessed brilliance (tee hee)

The hammer and big bird up next and carried on also won (sadly i didnt write the score down)

the game now at 2 -2 and wendy wanting to make up for stu’s shortcomings ( and i dont mean in the bedroom department) played with the hammer and won a tight close final game and with it the match and 2 bonus points

final score -3 -2

Next week 06 dec we are at home in the domino cup against the wilton. There is no darts so i will run an open comp like at the start of the season open to all club members £1 entry fee and winnings shared between 1st & 2nd
