DARTS & DOMS WEEK 12 AWAY TO ST MARYS SC

Saturday February 19th 2011 | Social

This week saw the return of form in both disciplines, with a high scoring darts in fact all players scored a ton+ score and 5 even registered 140, There were also 5 legs with a checkout over 51
The doms also showed their prowess with some amazing comebacks.

Darts
With the cricket boys and showboat stu expected later, meant a shake up in the batting order so up stepped Capt nemo, determined to put his recent bad form behind and having been rested the previous was eager to show whats what!
started steady with some reasonable scores , including a ton but checked out with a 76 (s20,s16 & doubletop). the second carried on in a similar vein, another ton+ score but checkout out with a cheeky double double finish – needing 59 went for single 19 but hit 7! leaving 52, so for some strange reason went for double top to leave double 6 and hit both – showboat was impressed! Won 2 – 0

fat fingers davies up next had a comfortable first leg winning with ease, but he stepped up a notch in the second and scored 100, followed by 140 and finished with a 55 checkout to win 2- 0

Showboat stu up next and was not to be out done, also had a ton & 140 in the same leg with a s20 double 20 checkout to take the first leg, the next leg was a bit closer with showboat missing a couple of shots at the double, finally clung on and won 2 – 0

Due to the cricketers still not arrived, res Chris hastings williams stepped and was unlucky to draw the best player of the opposition, despite scoring 140 was still not enough and lost 0 – 2

big bird bradders still buzzing from the nets had a comfortable 2 -0 win which included 2 x ton+ scores

baby face assassin nick up next and appears to lost the killer instinct, for he had 2 x tons & 2 x 140s but was unable to finish and went down with a whimper lost 1 – 2

Steve no name up last played his usual steady game with a ton score in the first leg followed by a 90 checkout in only 17 darts , the second leg was similar with 140 score & 56 checkout to win 2 -0

score 5 -2 (+2 bonus)

Doms
slimline tonic Bob and even bigger ted needed to draw on their years (and there are very many) of experience digging deep in extra deep pockets to come back from 60 – 79 down to win 91 – 88

Capt nemo & steve no name up next and again involved in a tough tassel needing to come back from behind. apparently nemo played a wonder domino (un known to him at the time!) which was the turning point in the match, if only nemo knew what he was doing – won 91 -86

then the shock of the night – has already reported earlier in the week, showboat finally breaks his 11 match losing run, partnered the dom King john Hammerwon with ease 91 -70

I wasn’t expecting much from the next pairing, for they were up against the opposition unbeaten pairing big bird & hastings started ok but never really clicked and lost 62 -91

last was nemo & hammer playing a nice steady game to win 91 – 84

final score 4 -1 (+2 bonus)

with the top two playing each other the result was eagerly awaited – staff in second place beat the swan 6 -1 making it tied at the top with 81 points, with ourselves in 3rd place on 70 points, which when we you consider the fact we have to play the top two and already beaten one of them we have an outside chance to sneak the title

next week Mon 21 Feb there is no game due to the darts individual qualifiers, however, both showboat and nemo have been drawn at Home and in the draw at prestwich are the best two players from each of the the top two teams so should make for some good darts.

No game Mon 28feb

next game is away to bridge inn (who now play at the staff of life) on mon 7 March
