JUNIORS DRAW IN TOUGH GAMES

Wednesday February 23rd 2011 | Football

Only two of our four junior teams had games played at the weekend due to weather problems with our under 11’s and under 7’s Panthers games called off due to water logged pitches.

The U7 Meerkats had a home game against a local Prestwich rival and spirits were high within the team and a good crowd had turned up to watch the encounter. Both teams compeated well and defences definatly had the upper hand the entire game. William gave the Meerkats the lead only to see their rivals level the score within a couple of minutes. In a hard game where chances were few and far between it was no suprise that man of the match awards went to the Meerkats two defenders Jack and James who had great games and prevented many chances being created by the opposistion.

All the boys did themselves proud and played good football the whole game. A hard game but a fair result of 1-1. Well done boys.

The Under 11’s were also in action in the Bolton Bury District League with an away game against Ladybridge Lightning. Going into the game the under 11’s were unbeaten this season in the league and managed to keep hold of that record with a 2 – 2 draw against their 5th placed opposition.

Prestwich still sit top of the league but have seen the gap closed over the weekend as 2nd placed Tyldesley Junior Wanderers secured a easy 5 – 0 win against botton placed Apsull Junior Sky.
