LEES HIT FIRST FOUR OF THE SEASON

Thursday April 21st 2011 | Club

The first “four” has been struck for Prestwich CTBC – before a cricket ball has been bowled. For JW Lees Brewery have renewed a sponsorship deal with the club for the next four years.

The Middleton-based brewers have been sponsors of the club for several years, and also the Lancashire County League since its inception in 1994.

Managing Director, Mr William Lees-Jones, said the company continued to be impressed with the club’s ambitions and improved facilities, and fitted the brewery’s desire to support local sport and recreation.

He said: “We are a family company with strong roots in the community and we feel this is a fantastic partnership. It is good business for the club, and good business for us.
“We have seen the sporting facilities it provides for people, and hope they continue to be well used and the club becomes more successful.”

Club chairman Brian Lorenzini said: “John Willie Lees have been an integral part of the club’s recent developments. They have been positive and helpful in everything we have done over the last few years and we are delighted to continue the relationship for another four years. They match our commitment to the local community.”

The brewery’s commitment to sport and leisure in the community is borne out by Mr Lees-Jones, who is not only president of Middleton Cricket Club but a director of the charity Onside North West.

The charity is currently trying to build youth zones in various towns to provide young people with better leisure opportunities and state-of-the-art facilities.
