RESURGENT CHAMPIONS GET REVENGE

Sunday November 13th 2011 | Football

Prestwich lost out by four goals to one against in-form champions Failsworth Dynamos on Saturday at Failsworth Soccer Centre.

Following their Premier Division title success last season, Failsworth struggled to get going this time out and endured a run of results that included a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Craig Howarth’s men back in August.

But they have turned things around with some new faces and have now won four and drawn one of their last five games to climb above Prestwich in to sixth position in the league.

PRESTWICH: Blake, Buckley, Kirkley, Roberts, Kosub, Taylor, Haslam (1), Walsh (O’Donnell), Hoolighan, Jackson, Bushell (Smith)

• Prestwich Reserves suberb winning streak continued to thirteen games with a 2-1 win at third placed Oldham Hulmeians Reserves in Division Four.

• Prestwich A Team went down 2-1 against Rossendale Amateurs C at Drinkwater Park in their Division Five match.

• Prestwich Sunday Team recovered from a dismal first half that saw them concede four without reply against The Cave at Manchester Road. Second half strikes from Mike Reid and Liam Burke gave Jamie Comiskey’s team hope but the home team grabbed a fifth to kill off the game. Stand-in ‘keeper Lee Darbyshire performed heroics in the second half to prevent Cave from adding to their tally.
