Strikes from Anthony Roberts and Ashley Hoolighan sealed the three points against Chaddertonians in the Premier Division on Saturday.
Lee Bushell’s deflected first half effort from outside the box was cancelled out from the penalty spot after the break, before the two late strikes gave Prestwich the win.
As Prestwich’s seesaw season hit another dip over recent weeks, the visit of tenth placed Chaddertonians presented a chance to get back to form and avenge the defeat at Hopwood Hall earlier in the season.
A fairly even first half presented a few half chances for both teams but a little bit of luck was required to finally break the deadlock.
Lee Bushell’s speculative 42nd minute strike from distance took a nick off a covering defender before beating the Chaddertonians ‘keeper to send Prestwich ahead.
But the lead wasn’t to last long as Mike Kirkley was then adjudged to have fouled a forward in the box five minutes after the restart. The resulting penalty was converted despite Alex Blake’s best efforts in the Prestwich goal.
The visitors then wasted a good chance to take the lead when a shot was sent wide of a post.
But as the match wore on, it was Prestwich who looked more likely to regain the lead with striker Ashley Hoolighan seeing his 78th minute shot turned over by the ‘keeper.
However, the goal finally came just moments later when Sean Haslam fed Hoolighan who slotted home.
And the win was made safe in the last minute, Haslam the provider again as he supplied Anthony Roberts who fired in the third.
The result moved Prestwich back up one place to seventh ahead of this Saturday’s trip to sixth placed Little Lever. Kick off at Mytham Road is 2pm.

• A solitary strike from substitute Darran Williams was enough to give Liam Morrissey’s Reserves the win over third placed Accrington Amateurs Reserves in Division Four to maintain their 100% record and their 13 point lead at the top.
• Prestwich A Team got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 win over Bury GSOB ‘A’ at Buckley Wells.
The visitors got off to a great start when John Fiorentini side footed home a quickly taken corner.
Shaun Jackson then doubled the score with a sublime 28th minute strike from 22 yards before Carl Hey killed the match a minute before half time with a well taken third.
Bury scored the only goal of the second half as Prestwich let their foot off the gas but all in all, a good result for Andrew Howarth’s men.
• Prestwich Sunday Team completed a quartet of wins for the club over the weekend with a 3-2 success at Duck Club in the Bury Premier Division.
Shaun Jackson rounded the ‘keeper to slot home from the angle after just 11 minutes before he got his and his team’s second from the penalty spot nine minutes later.
Duck halved the deficit shortly after but Anthony Roberts restored the two goal margin when he fired in off an upright on the half hour as Prestwich took advantage of a suspect offside trap from the home side.
Duck Club scored again with ten minutes of the game remaining and looked to press for an equaliser with all 22 players in the Prestwich box for a succession of late corner kicks.
Stand-in ‘keeper Lee Darbyshire again pulled off some smart saves as Jamie Comiskey’s team withstood the late barrage to claim all three points.
