During Saturday’s win over Thornham at The Heys, bowler Andy Bradley equalled Bob Hinchliffe’s post-war club record of 891 first team wickets.

And in taking 4 wickets the following day in Prestwich’s title clincher at Streford, Bradley not only got his hand on the First Division Trophy again but also took over in top spot in the record books.

Bob Hinchliffe’s 891 wickets were over a 30 year period (1967 debut to 1996 last match), Bradley’s 895 wickets is over 23 years (1990 debut to date). They both spent a few years in the 2nd XI in these periods with Bob’s last match being a desparation call up several years after his previous appearance.

Bob took 5 wickets or more in a match 51 times. Andy is next with 41 followed by Chris Humphreys with 38 and Stan Thompson with 30.

The next player in the wickets list (in 3rd position) is the late Neville Heys with 583 wickets followed by Humphreys with 574.

The most wickets taken in a season was by Thompson with 152 in 1964, followed by Andy with 104 in 2011 and Bob with 93 in 1969.

With 70 wickets, this season so far, it is the 9th time Andy has taken 50 or more beating Chris Humphreys 8.

Andy best figures came against Denton West (home) 8-50 in 2011, Flowery Field (home) 8-27 in 2011 and Swinton (away) 8-39 in 1992.

Bob has the best against Stalybridge (home) 8-24 in 1972, 8-11 v. Dukinfield (away) in 1969 and 8-23 v. Unsworth (away) in 1968.
