NEW BOWLING SEASON IS UNDERWAY

by | Monday April 15th 2013 | Bowling

The new bowling season has now begun. Hopefully we’ll have better weather than last year!

The season got off to a great start with our Easter Sunday Jack Bowl and Round Robin competition, with a good turn out and it was good to catch up with everyone we hadn’t seen since the end of the season last year. The green and surrounds are looking great and a lot of winter work has gone into our section playing surfaces and surrounds by a committed number of members.

This was followed by a great social night at the club on 5th April, with a live 60’s band and hot pot supper.

The next bowling competition is the Richardson’s Floodlit on Saturday evening 27th April. This competition is played in memory of Dougie and Caroline Richardson, and all monies raised usually go to McMillan Nurses. The list is up, so get your names down. Hot pot supper is on the menu for the evening.

Our bowling day out this year is to the Rose ‘n Bowl at Stacksteads on Saturday 22nd June. The day includes coach travel to and from the Rose ‘n Bowl, tea/coffee on arrival, light lunch, bowling green hire and two course carvery. If you are going you need to put your names on the list in the bowling lounge sooner rather than later, so that confirmation of numbers and coach can be confirmed.

Also, don’t forget our Solihull weekend on Friday 10th/11th August. This is always a good weekend and good value for money. Names to Janet Austin please so she can book rooms. The weekend consists of arrival Friday, do your own thing and make your own arrangements for dining out. Saturday breakfast, bowling green hire, competition, presentation, evening meal, Sunday breakfast. The town of Solihull is a good shopping place so non-bowlers are more than welcome, also the competition is a fun competition so anyone who wants to enter can do so, and they will be shown what to do.

Keep your eyes on the notice board for further information of what goes on in the Bowling Section of our club.
