Prestwich’s Under 11 A team have been confirmed as league champions.
The side, captained by Jack Doyle, only lost one game in the league throughout the season.
But a delay in the compilation of results meant the champagne cork – or rather the Pringles lid – could not be officially popped until now.
They had an exceptional league season, playing 13, winning 12, losing one against Woodbank, with one called off because of the weather.
The Under-11s also reached the quarter final of the prestigious Lancashire Knockout Cup, where they lost to Ramsbottom, who went on to finish as joint winners.
Players from both A and B team were used in this competition, which showed the strength in depth we had.
Although the B team only won one game, the improvement in performances from the lads as the season progressed was quite remarkable. You only have to look at the result against their own A team in the last match of the season when they were defeated by just 16 runs.
Players from both teams deserve a huge pat on the back, not just for their effort and performances, but for playing the game in the right spirit.
The A team squad: Jack Doyle, Aaryaman Roy, Alex Quigley, Edward Whitehead, Teddy Clarke, Daniel Olsberg, Sam Entwistle, Daniel James, Finlay Wood, and Joe Watson.
The B team squad: Liam Hunt, Josh Ahern, Ben Kyriacou, Josh Raleigh, Jake Oliver, Jude Chadwick, Calum Davies, Will Lightfoot and Kyle Dawson.
Junior Presentation Night will be held in January or February, and details will be publicised when a date has been fixed.
