Aldi today opened its latest store on the old HPL Motors site in Prestwich Village and the PFC Meerkats team were in attendance to show off their new Aldi sponsored playing kit.

The new store was officially opened this morning by The Worshipful the Mayor of the Bury Metropolitan Borough, Councillor Sharon Briggs and pictured with her are players from the Meerkats team proudly showing off their new kits.

As part of Aldi’s overall initiative to support local community projects, the new Aldi in Prestwich has given its support to a number of local groups in the town.

Joining in the launch day celebrations with the Meerkats was local dance group J-Star who also received a donation from Store Manager Gary Tooth and children from Park View Primary School.

Mr Tooth said, “We’re delighted to be opening the first new Aldi store for the region in 2014 here in Prestwich. We would like to thank The Worshipful the Mayor of Bury Metropolitan Borough, Councillor Sharon Briggs for agreeing to officially open the store and we would also like to extend our thanks to Councillor Alan Quinn who linked us up with some of the local projects we are supporting this year.”

“We are looking forward to being a part of this thriving community and can’t wait to meet our customers at the launch of our new store.”
