Prestwich 2nds took centre stage last Saturday when the first team game at Stand was abandoned – and rewarded spectators with a gutsy four wicket victory.

Werneth 1st team were the visitors to The Heys and were dismissed for 105 due to an excellent bowling performance. Lewis Jarvis took 2-14 from his 15 overs, backed up by Tom Robinson with 2-16 off 7, Aaryaman Roy’s 2 for 41 off 13, and Luke Prescott, taking 2 for 4 from just one over.

Alex Taylor and Uwais Khaliq also grabbed a wicket each.

Jack Doyle’s solid 29 put Prestwich on track for victory, but at 83-6, there was still work to be done, but youngsters Luke Prescott (17 not out) and Josh Ahern (7 not out) ensured there were no further hiccups.

The 3rd XI suffered defeat in their Cup semi-final on Sunday after Roe Green set a target of 120. Excluding 2 run outs, all 8 wickets were taken by the Arifs, with the youngest Muhammad claiming 4 for 20, while Umar and dad Anees both notched a brace.

Despite the efforts of skipper Steven Lorenzini to hold the innings together, the reply faltered and shortly after he was ninth man out for 18, the side were dismissed for 60.

The 3rd team’s re-scheduled league game last night (Thursday) against Clifton 3rds fell foul of the weather.
