As part of our daily serving of cricket chat, today we feature a photograph from the Prestwich and Whitefield Guide – which according to league statistics, dates back to the summer of 1976.

It reads:

“Looking very pleased with themselves are Prestwich Cricket Club first eleven as they leave the field after beating Greenmount to stay in the first division of the Lancashire and Cheshire League. It was a fine all-round team effort with captain Brian Lorenzini leading with 57 runs and vice captain Bob Hinchliffe taking seven wickets for 69 runs. Regretfully, Greenmount are relegated”

Send us a tweet or a Facebook post if you can name the players pictured (or whether you know if anyone did step on Bob Hinchliffe’s blue suede shoes).

Thanks to everyone who has so far sent in their cricketing profiles. They have been a great read, so keep them rolling.

In addition, we have more fascinating podcasts in our “Heavy Roller” series lined up, together with coaching tips, reflections of past glories and memorable matches, “Top Ten” lists, and quizzes.

Above all, stay safe, stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives.
