Prestwich featured in a brief article published in the Manchester Guardian on May 7th, 1912, but their match and scorecard against Manchester did not make good reading.

Perhaps the headline “Manchester beat Prestwich” was a bit understated as Prestwich suffered a 160-run defeat.

It read as follows:

“At Old Trafford yesterday, W Tyldesley played a fine innings for Manchester. Prestwich were all out in a little over an hour and a half for 57. Whitehead bowled well, taking seven wickets for 24 runs.
