WICKETS FOR BAILS

A five-wicket haul from Nathan Bailey paved the way for a comfortable win over neighbours Stand last Saturday.

Wilf Reeve had accounted for three of Stand’s top order and returned 3 for 25 off his 10 overs before Bailey took centre stage to orchestrate the dismissal of the visitors for 86.

Bailey finished with 5 for 30 – the fourth time he has taken five wickets in an innings for the first team.

In reply, Cameron Mapstone fell agonisingly one run short of his first 50 for the first team, and fellow opener Haris Aziz made 20 as the target was passed with eight wickets to spare.

The 2nd team were not in action, but the 3rd team found Daisy Hill 3rds too good on Sunday.

Josh Ahern top scored with 24 in Prestwich’s total of 114 all out, but the visitors overhauled the score for the loss of 3 wickets, Luke Prescott taking 2 for 19.

On Monday, the only total that really counted was £1992.09 – raised in aid of Bury Hospice by the staging of a T20 charity game between Prestwich Heat and Bury Storm.

Given the match was organised at relatively short notice, it was a great effort from everyone involved to support a local charity in these unprecedented circumstances.

Thanks to all at Bury CC, the staff at Roch Valley Radio who covered the game live, umpire Steve Ward, and all other helpers and spectators who took time out to support such a needy cause.

For the record, Prestwich made 118 all out with Bury’s Chris Potts taking 5 for 21.

Bury fell 31 runs short after they were bowled for 87 – Damon Montgomery finishing with 4 for 24.
