PFC back in action this weekend

Tuesday April 6th 2021 | Football

The 1st XI are to compete in a Divisional Cup competition organized by the Lancashire Amateur League so that teams can get some football in this season.

It was deemed impossible to complete the league fixtures so the season has been declared null and void. Therefore the LAL devised a format based on 2 groups of teams per division, in the Premier this is 2 groups of 7, with each team playing the other once (3 at home and 3 away).

Teams placed 2nd and 3rd in each group will play off to progress to the semi final stage where they will play the winner of the other group. Winners of these games will play in the final on a neutral ground.

The competition starts on Saturday 10th April and group matches should conclude on the 22nd May. All games are scheduled for a Saturday and any postponed games must be played in the midweek following the cancelled match.

If the team does progress it is assumed the play offs will be on 29th May, the semi finals on 5th June, with the final on 12th June but these dates have not yet been announced by the LAL so may change.

All fixtures known are detailed below and also on the website under Football Section > Seniors.

Please note that for the time being the FA are advising no spectators should attend. This may change from 12th April if easing restrictions include allowing some spectators, but we must await FA instructions/advice. This will be posted on the website should it occur.
