We are saddened to hear that John passed away on Thursday evening. John joined PCTBC as a social member watching his grandson’s learn and play junior cricket.

John was a senior football administrator in Manchester’s amateur framework of Leagues and brought his excellent knowledge of grant-aided schemes to the assistance of our Cricket section.

We had serious ground level issues and a warn out land drainage system. John and I applied to Sport England and were successful in obtaining over £65k for the regrading and partial re-draining of the Cricket ground.

John, following conversations with the nominated consultants, persuaded me and the ECB to turn the drainage scheme into covering the whole extent of the ground rather than just the areas causing concern. That involved obtaining a further £25k from the ECB and the rest is history. PCC now enjoy an outfield drainage system similar to that enjoyed by County facilities throughout England.

PCTBC awarded John an Honorary Life membership which I know John treasured.

We offer our heartfelt condolences to John’s family and when we watch Cricket in the future we will remember the fantastic contribution John made to our club.

Rest in peace John.
