3rd Team win the cup

Prestwich 3rd team won the GMCL Sunday Premier Cup today with a brilliant all-round performance.

They defeated Monton 3rds by 108 runs in the Tetley-sponsored final, played in the fine surrounds of Hadfield St Andrew CC.

Batting first, Prestwich reached 191 for 7 from their 40 overs, led by an excellent 57 from Chris Nuttall. Tom Ward and opener Josh Ahern both struck 34 and skipper Peter Lorenzini added a useful 19 not out at the end of the innings.

Opening bowlers Karl West (2 for 9) and Anees Arif (1-8) made a superb start, as they reduced Monton to 14 for 3, which then became 15-4 thanks to a run out inspired by Umar Arif.

Monton battled hard but then Sam Harding took centre for Prestwich, returning outstanding figures of 5 for 13, as Monton were bowled out for 83.
