2XI Championship wins of 1969 and 1970

With records understandably scarce prior to the formation of the Lancashire and Cheshire Cricket League in 1919, the first silverware we are aware of to adorn our trophy cabinet was the Middleton & District League Challenge Cup in 1893, followed by the South Lancashire League Championship in 1907.

But once in the new league success was hard to come by with only the 1933 Walkden Cup to put to our name.

Unfortunately we’re yet to come across a photo of that team so next up was our 2XI Championship win of 1969.

Peter Cope’s team would go on to take the title the following season too but other than that, a Hulme Trophy success in 1984 and a 3XI mid-90s league title and a trio of cup wins, there wasn’t much else to write home about for Prestwich for the remainder of the 20th century.

The 21st century, however, has so far been a different kettle of fish altogether!
