Men’s Tennis – A Team Opener

by | Saturday May 4th 2024 | Tennis

Our Men’s Tennis A team kicked off their season last week.

The opening match saw the team away at Tame Valley A in what traditionally is a tough match and one to test the team in what will surely be a highly competitive season.

The team started the fixture by claiming all 3 of the opening rubbers to take a strong lead and settle the early season nerves. The Prestwich lads throughout the match showed they had a little too much for the Greenfield based outfit on this occasion and came away with a 7-2 win.

George Sykes and Paul Jepson romped home with 3/3 wins displaying their classic serve and volley doubles and cementing their partnership for the upcoming season.

Karl Kantor and Dave Wride used all their experience and guile to secure 2/3 wins and Captain Christian Millington and debutant Jon Stammers also securing 2/3 wins with the new pairing impressing with some aggressive play to overcome the oppositions second and third pairs.

Thanks go to Tame Valley for their hospitality and warm welcome to their club.

Overall a fairly comfortable night and the start the team wanted in defence of their league title.
