The Manchester Tennis league is well under way and our men’s tennis section has teams battling it out across all three divisions.

Our Men’s A have continued with their consistent performances and currently sit top of division 1 after a strong showing at home against Alkrington A.

With several players unavailable the A team setup very differently and the new partnership of Robbie Fellows and David Wride proved fruitful with the two left handers showing great patience and guile to claim 2/3 wins. Paul Jepson and George Sykes continued their 100% winning record for the season claiming yet another 3/3 wins and spear heading the team to a 7-2 win on the night.

Our Men’s B are notching up a good run of results winning their first 3 games of the season including two tricky away fixtures at David Lloyd B and Alkrington C. Captain Marc Conway has been shuffling the B team pack effectively and the pairings have proven fruitful. Mike Haigh and Dominic Clarke have become a fierce pair racking up a number of wins. The B team now sit top of division 2.

And not to be forgotten our Men’s C team under the leadership of Martyn Shaw have also started in formidable fashion winning their opening two games against Saddleworth and David Lloyd C. Ray Mertens and Nelo Liguori showing a mix of power and deft touch were unbeaten at Saddleworth and Joel Clyne and Dominic Kropidlowski are developing a strong partnership with impressive performances noted by captain Martyn. The Men’s C team sit at the top of division 3.

Well done to all players competing in these teams and we will keep you updated with the ladies and oldham league fixtures as their seasons begin to progress.
