The last year has been nothing short of sensational in terms of club expansion and development. Project Spacse will complete in March, and, given that we will have spent £574k on the future of our club, including too be precise, £168,014 of our own money, clearly evidences how far the club has developed in the last twenty years.
At this stage I need to highlight members who have to date either donated or loaned over £25k to club, £17500 of this to be repaid by mid 2012. Thanks to them all for their magnificent support.
You would of course be disappointed if I missed this opportunity to mention that there is still time to either donate or loan funds that will used in furnishing the new lounge and the existing bar area and the creation of a new patio area between the clubhouse and the first level of the banking overlooking the cricket playing area.
Additional fund raising ideas will be announced soon including the opportunity to buy a family, memorial or personal nameplate on the glass screens that will surround the club motif in the new entrance hall.
The AGM will have the proposal for acceptance to formalise the addition of Football as new section of the club. The Management Committee view this as an exciting opportunity that will help move the club towards being an all year round sports club.
The Football section have been active over a few years but developments this year in its operation has seen the incorporation of two senior sides within the Lancashire Amateur League and several new junior teams.
The aligned membership increases will allow the club to seek out further grant aided schemes that will develop the club even further over the next decade. They will become operationally part of the Club’s Management Committee within our existing constitution.
Assuming the proposal is passed we will examine options to rename the club. This result of this, if appropriate would be presented to the 2011 AGM.
All members will have felt the effects of the ongoing recession and the club, as you will note from the accounts, is obviously affected with significantly increased overheads. However, we have been cushioned in part by the exceptional efforts of Keith Mills who manages all our overheads as if they were his own.
Finally, can I thank all the members who give their time freely to the benefit of our club, it would be difficult to quantify how much money this saves our club, but it is easy to assess how it has allowed us to progress and develop the club to have a sustainable and successful future as a community based sports club. Thank you for your continued support.
