DARTS & DOMS WEEK 8 ROUND UP

Monday January 25th 2010 | Social

Apologies for the lateness in the report

This week saw the final match on our travels and we were away to Church Inn (Bury), and looking to avenge our only defeat at darts so far.
With the league tables of both darts & doms being very tight, and with Prestwich still in the hunt for both titles meant a few nerves on display, for in the darts I can honestly say it was the most woeful throwing by the team all season, with a unbeaten record going. Yet we still managed a win!!!!, whoever said revenge is sweet was not wrong!
The Doms players on the other hand were outstanding with some high wins recorded and again revenge was taken.

Darts
Showboat Stu Cameron, never produced his consistency and though won 2 -0 against the opposing skipper Val he did have 118 checkout in the opening leg and this was his only ton of the game

Chomper fat fingers John davies followed next and like Stu had a poor game by his high standards, again like stu won 2 – 0 with only 1 “ton”

Captain Nemo – Jon Army, had to contend with various distractions – ie people coming and going from the kitchen, which was next to the dartboard, every time he stepped up to throw!!! He lost the first leg
with whimper but took the next two to win 2 – 1 and collected 2 “tons” along the way, bur was awful on the doubles

Magic marker Gareth drawn against the player he had faced at Prestwich, started off well taking the first leg only for his opponent to step up a gear to take the next 2 and lost 1 – 2

Bitrthday Boy nick, having rushed back from cricket probably wished he hadn’t! Played his worse game all season, though he did take it to 3 legs and scored a ton, but like nemo was unable to finish and went down 1 – 2 and with it losing his 100% record

Martyn Ackroyd, thankful to Jon o’ connor for stepping down and allowing him to play, had a point to prove, not only to the team but to himself and did it in style winning 2 -0 and an impressive 97 checkout in the second leg.

Last but no means least 2″dd’s” bradders, fancied a bit of showboating himself, took the first leg with ease then in the second had a 64 checkout with a double double finish ie 2 x double 16 to win 2 – 0

Result 5 – 2 (12 – 5 legs) this draws us level at the top of the table with a game in hand and the other team to play at home.

Doms
some outstanding performances and one player desperate to play another game went as follows

Wendy & janet continued where they left off and won in fine style 91 – 51

Gail & Gareth struggled and could not going nor were lucky with the hands picked

John H and 2″d’s” Bradders were in the front all the way until the final hand and lost in the narrowest of margins 90 – 91

Capt nemo & showboat had their best win as a pairing to win 91 – 59 despite nemo playing some un orthodox doms, to level the match at 2 – 2

last was new pairing the hammer & wendy and blew their opponents away to win 91 – 43 and claim the match points

Result 3 – 2 this also draws us level at the top of the table but in a three way split and with the other two teams playing each other makes for an interesting climax.

No game Next week 25 -Jan – Though the club are hosting an Doms qualifier with 8 pairs from around the league expected and our very own Stu & wendy amongest them

Next League game Home against the Woolpack (radcliffe) who are top of the doms league and beat us 5 – 0 on Mon 1st Feb
