Well our debut season in the Radcliffe & District darts & doms league, comes to an end, though they are a couple of individual honours to compete fo,r and we had success on both fronts, we have won both the domino league and darts league division 2 and with it promotion to the first division.
Darts
With captain nemo (Jon Army) unavailable, the gauntlet was past to players to finish the job, and they did though finger nails were chewed since the darts went to the final match of the night and everything rested on young Nick Carter.
The first three players John Davies, Bradders and stand in skipper Stu raced to a 3 – 0 lead to ease the pressure on the weaker players, winning 2 -0, 2 -1, & 2 -0 respectively.
The next three Gareth (lack of practice) martin, Martyn Ackroyd, Jon o,connor all lost 0 – 2 to level the game at 3 -3 and one to play.
Up stepped young Nick, fresh from his county match in Wales showed his maturity and class and how much he ha improved this season to hold his nerve and win 2 -0 and with it the match and the title
final score 4 -3 (8 -7 legs) hold on while I mop my brow!
we are also still in the hunt for individual honours : Stu Cameron has the least darts for the league with 15, stu & john and Nemo & nick are through to the final 8 pairs. Nick has qualified for the 180 trophy .
Doms
all change in the pairings and proved to be a master stroke for we took the match in only 4 games
big Ted & Martyn Ackroyd won 91 -64
Janet & gail unlucky to lose 85 – 91
the hammer & bradders very impressive 91 – 45 – this is the 4th time the hammer has won to less than 50
wendy & stu cameron 91 -77 and like last week won the match and with it the league
last but no means least the hammer & wendy lost 74 – 91
final score 3 -2
we are also in the running for the best domino win of 91 -33 by big ted and gail in the very first game of the season (i think)
My thanks to everyone who took part especially to Viv & Helen for doing the food and little Leo for helping
