IT’S A WASHOUT

Boats, not bats, would have been better employed at Prestwich’s cricket ground last weekend.

The covers remained firmly in place on Saturday and Sunday as incessant rain ruled out any chance of playing.

Saturday’s match against Dukinfield in the Greene King Lancashire County League was called off by 1pm, and the same fate befell their home tie on Sunday against Bolton League side Farnworth, in the National Knockout Cup.

With improved weather prospects predicted, Prestwich face the short trip to unbeaten Cheetham Hill on Saturday in the league, while the first round of the Walkden Cup has sparked another derby clash, with Stand the visitors to The Heys on Sunday.
