PAUL JEPSON’S COACHING UPDATE

Saturday April 11th 2015 | Tennis

Firstly can I wish everyone all the best and good luck for the upcoming summer season. This year the coaching programme is going to be as busy as ever with many new projects on the horizon.

The Junior Saturday Morning Programme has run successfully over the winter period and the mid week Junior programme will also be relaunched at the end of March. I’ll also be running the ever popular Junior Tennis Camps throughout the May and Summer holiday periods, so keep your eyes peeled for further information on this.

The Adult Tactical Training class will continue to run and this is open to all adult members of team standard every Thursday 7pm to 8pm (£5).

There are also some new initiatives which we will be running this season, with good support from the LTA. Tennis Tuesdays is a new national campaign aimed at introducing women aged 21-39 to the sport and we have been handpicked by the LTA to run this initiative.

We will be running women only sessions on Tuesdays over the summer months and the Metrolink tram network will be being utilised to promote this. We have also received funding from the Local Authority to run sessions with the local Secondary School Prestwich Arts College. Additionally we have also been picked as a key LTA venue for the National Mini Tennis Month in April and to work with the Youth Tennis Council to introduce the sport to local Secondary Schools.

All in all these new projects are all very exciting and will allow us to not only promote the club, but also recruit new members to sustain our already vibrant facility.

Throughout the year there will also be various courses running, such as Beginner sessions and the option of specific team training sessions. Again keep your eyes peeled for information and team captains do get in touch if you would like your teams to be put through their paces and get their eye in before the season starts.

Remember I am available for Individual lessons for all ages and standards and these can be booked by contacting me directly. Individual lessons will now be charged at £25 per hour to match my qualification status.

As well as coaching, I’m also working with the German tennis equipment manufacturer PACIFIC, who is a world leader in strings and grips and has been an ATP Tour partner for 5 years. They have just launched a high spec brand of racquets now being used by Top 100 players such as Marcos Baghdatis. I am going to be offering best price to the members of the club on PACIFIC balls, strings, grips, racquets and other accessories. So keep your eyes peeled for some fantastic deals going forwards and a rackets demo day in the summer.

Overall I wish you a safe and fun tennis season and hope to see you all on court soon!
